Case Study: Qualification Check

The business

Qualification Check (“QC”) was born out of the founder’s frustration with the process of verifying academic qualifications whilst in his previous employment in the executive recruitment sector. QC was launched, the core platform was built, and early traction was gained.

The Transaction

We were approached with a view to raising capital to develop the proposition further and invest in sales and marketing in order to exploit the evident market opportunity. The initial funding was secured from Chelverton Investor Club members in February 2017.

The outcome

Over the subsequent periods, the product offering has developed considerably, a service delivery operation was launched in India, and the senior leadership team has been enhanced through appointments of a hands-on non-executive, as well as part-time Finance Director. A follow-on funding round, which was over-subscribed, was sourced from the early investors in March 2021, at which point revenues were on track to have increased circa 200% from the time of initial investment. Meanwhile, the company has received unsolicited interest from trade buyers and financial investors, with the sector seeing significant M&A appetite.
